How Gemmini works

1. Create your free account and open your dashboard.
2. Share a Google Drive folder (see below).
3. Click New gallery, paste the link, give it a title, and pick a theme.
4. Share the generated link with your client.

In Google Drive, right-click the folder for a shoot → Share → under General access choose “Anyone with the link” as a Viewer. This is what lets Gemmini read the file list with a server-side API key — no sign-in, no OAuth.

Only images and videos are shown; documents and subfolders are handled automatically (subfolders become “scenes”).

From the dashboard, click New gallery and set:

• Title & optional cover description — shown at the top of the gallery.
• Drive folder link — the live preview updates as you paste it.
• Password (Pro) — leave blank for a public gallery.
• Theme, layout & cover image — preview them on the right before saving.
• Allow downloads — toggle off for view-only galleries.
• Your website, Instagram & Facebook links.

You get a short shareable URL like gemmini.live/gallery/emma-josh-7gk2pq8r.

A theme is a full visual identity — typography, colour, shape, and a cover style. Choose from Editorial, Minimal, Noir, Folk, and Film.

A layout controls how photos are arranged: Masonry, Grid, Large, Mosaic, Feed, and Frame. Masonry and the column layouts read left-to-right, top-to-bottom and balance automatically using each photo’s real dimensions.

If your Drive folder contains subfolders, each becomes a named scene (e.g. “Getting Ready”, “Ceremony”, “Reception”) with its own section header. Loose photos in the top level appear first. No subfolders? It’s a single flowing gallery.

Your clients get a fast, account-free experience:

• Responsive masonry/grid with lazy-loaded, resized previews.
• Fullscreen lightbox with zoom, pan, rotate, slideshow, captions, and keyboard navigation.
• Favorites — they heart their picks; you see the selection in your dashboard.
• Filter by Photos / Videos and sort by name or date.
• Per-photo share links and full-resolution downloads.

From the dashboard you can view, edit, copy the link, or delete any gallery, and see how many photos clients have favorited. Editing never changes the slug, so shared links stay valid. Deleting a gallery removes it from Gemmini only — your Drive files are untouched.

Free includes one gallery, the Editorial & Minimal themes, and Masonry & Grid layouts. Pro unlocks unlimited galleries, password protection, every theme & layout, and removes Gemmini branding.

Gemmini never stores your media. It keeps only metadata and reads your Drive folder live via the Drive API, caching results briefly to stay fast and within quota. Thumbnails and downloads are served straight from Google’s CDN, so there’s no extra storage or bandwidth cost. Passwords are bcrypt-hashed and gallery access uses a short-lived signed cookie.
